Abstract
A reading of Anita's poetry from "Token Koori" on issues
like biculturalism and contemporary Aboriginality, and from my
satirical social commentary "Sacred Cows" on white-Australian
culture.
Bionote
Anita Heiss is from the Wiradjuri nation and is a Sydney-based
author, satirist and social commentator. She is the author of
"Sacred Cows" and "Token Koori" and has been
published widely in Australia and Canada in newspapers, journals
and on web-sites. Anita was the first Aboriginal author elected
to the Management Committee of the Australian Society of Authors
in 1998 and is on the Board of Directors for Gadigal Information
Services where she is also a volunteer broadcaster. Anita has
recently completed her PhD on Aboriginal literature and the publishing
industry and she is one of Australia's foremost authorities on
the area.
