How Darebin Council Used the Best Value Policy as the Framework for its Cultural Planning Tool

Abstract:
The workshop will provide an insight into the steps taken to develop a whole-of-Council cultural planning approach. Fundamental service principles identified by Darebin will be explored. In addition, related policy frameworks at the State and Commonwealth level will be examined for relevance to local government working to ensure culturally diverse services whilst implementing the Best Value policy.

Judith Miralles has many years experience in policy and program development, implementation and evaluation in the area of cultural diversity.
Dalal Smiley is the Manager of the City of Darebin's Multicultural Unit. Darebin is recognised as a leader in the provision of culturally inclusive services.
